Castle Hill Open Day

Explore one of the oldest and most vibrant corners of Cambridge this month, when venues in the Castle Hill area open their doors on 21 July for a host of fun and fascinating activities.

The event begins at midday with an opening ceremony led by the mayor and featuring a performance by dance company Casson & Friends. After that, you can discover the history of jelly at the Museum of Cambridge and meet ‘Fanny Cradock’, plus get creative with family art making activities on Northampton Green and in the Kettle’s Yard studio. There's also storytelling, music, cream teas and more at St Giles’ Church, plus mat weaving, drawing and poetry in St Peter’s Church and churchyard. Also worth seeking out is the New Hall Art Collection, which features more than 400 works of art by women artists from around the globe.

Peckish? Stop by for tea and cake at Castle Street Methodist Church, visit the Garden Kitchen cafe at Kettles Yard or sample the tasty wares on offer from food trucks including Wandering Yak, Azahar and Pizza Mondo. Alternatively, you can bring along your own picnic and relax on the green.
