Becca Spraggs, director at The Snap Booth, talks wedding trends and industry impact, as well as the company’s new system for contactless capturing
“The uncertainty of weddings during lockdown has caused significant strain on small businesses. However, with a small number of guests now allowed to attend wedding receptions in a Covid-19 secure environment, there is still hope. The wedding industry feels as though it’s been put on hold temporarily, but it will be back bigger and better than it ever has been. Everyone will be ready to celebrate in high spirits at weddings again soon.

Here at The Snap Booth, we have been able to adapt to the pandemic by introducing a contactless photo booth system. Guests at an event can use their smart phones to quickly operate our booths for a super fun and super hygienic photo booth experience, and we have implemented a track and trace system which we will ask the guests to complete before entering the booth. With the contactless operation, there is no need for any of the guests to touch the screen, and the photo or gif will be emailed straight to them. We make sure that there is hand sanitiser, antibacterial wipes, masks and shields at every booking, with clear floor markings to ensure that the safety of the guests is paramount.
Lockdown has been a period of reflection and has shown couples what is truly important for their special day. We will likely see weddings return in a more traditional sense, with 2021 looking like it will be a year of timeless dresses, smaller receptions and close family traditions – which have been a part of weddings for centuries. One of the biggest changes for weddings going forward is the introduction of micro weddings, which allow for couples to have more intimate ceremonies with their loved ones.

As we are fully booked for 2021, we have opened up our calendar for 2022 and 2023 due to the photo booth being so popular and couples not wanting to miss out on the chance of booking us. The wedding entertainment may be scaled down but will involve more of a contactless experience, such the contactless photo booth we have implemented as technology is always developing and getting better. Photo booth businesses may stop props altogether and instead opt for more natural poses and portrait style booth pictures. Black and white, Kardashian-style prints will be a big trend for 2021 and 2022 as they are becoming increasingly popular and stylish.”
