Drawing comparisons to the likes of Nat Cole and Marvin Gaye for his incredible vocals and captivating live performances, Porter nonetheless came to music late in life.
His first dream was to become an American Football pro, until a shoulder injury sent his career in a different direction.
His second album, Be Good, achieved chart success around the world, whilst 2013’s Liquid Spirit earned him this year’s Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
Catch him at the Corn Exchange on 31 October at 7.30pm, tickets start at £25.
