Castle Comedy already run two successful comedy clubs in Bedford and Biggleswade, and have set their sights on Cambridge, where they’ll be presenting their first gig at the DoubleTree by Hilton on 26 March.
The club will be hosted at this suave riverside venue on the last Thursday of each month, and feature a diverse range of up and coming stars from the world of comedy. As an extra twist each night will have a specialist cocktail designed by one of the UK’s top mixologists.
Paul Revill and Tom Arnold are the driving forces behind the club. Paul is a comedian from Bedford who is beginning to make waves in the industry and MC’d at the prestigious Piccadilly Comedy Club in London’s West End. He also won the Bath Comedy Festival New Act of the Year.
“I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing comics and perform at some incredible clubs across the country,” says Paul. “I want Cambridge, a truly special city, to be the home of a special Castle Comedy Club; one that puts the best comics in a fabulous venue with an atmosphere that is electric.”
Tom, meanwhile, is the head mixologist at the DoubleTree by Hilton and is a specialist in cocktails; his creations took him to Bordeaux in November where he competed in the world finals of the Marie Brizard ‘Mixology’ competition. Tom will be creating a new cocktail for each show based on the headline act’s favourite tipple!
The first show on 26 March sees Bob Mills headline. Bob has over 30 years’ stand-up experience, and some might recognise him from his cult classic 90’s TV show In Bed with Me Dinner and as presenter of Win, Lose or Draw on ITV. He is now a regular on BBC 5Live.
Adds Paul: “The acts we’ve got coming up are some of the hottest in the country and they are coming to Cambridge. I want to create something amazing for the people of Cambridge, a comedy club with a real buzz, where acts and audience want to be.”
Shows start at 8.15pm and tickets are £10, including free onsite parking.
