The UK’s longest-running beer festival resumes its place on Jesus Green at the end of the month (May), offering up a superb selection of real ales, foreign beers, local craft beers and more.
The CAMRA-accredited event is one of the social highlights of the Cambridge calendar for beer and non-beer drinkers alike. Local brewers Moonshine Brewery and the ever-popular Milton Brewery are worth seeking out, and as well as the amber nectar there’s mead, cider and perry of all varieties to try, plus delicious food from local suppliers.
The CAMRA cheese counter is always popular, serving gourmet pork pies, scotch eggs, ham and cheese platters, while outside you’ll find street food stalls serving the likes of burgers and falafel.
And since it’s the 42nd event, there’s a Douglas Adams theme, in tribute to the Cambridge-born author’s famous answer to the meaning of life.
Cambridge Beer Festival started out in 1974 and takes place this year between 18 to 23 May. It’s open 12pm to 3pm, then again from 5pm until 10.30pm – get there early to avoid the queues! Admission is £5.
