Rising young soprano Rowan Pierce joins the Academy of Ancient Music for two sacred cantatas in AAM’s latest performance in Cambridge, Rejoice!, at West Road Concert Hall on 22 October.
Handel’s Gloria was only rediscovered in 2001, and showcases soprano voice in a series of dazzling movements. Bach’s Jachzet Gott in allen Landen pairs solo soprano with trumpet, played by AAM’s principal trumpeter David Blackadder. Also featured is Let the Bright Seraphim from Handel’s Samson.
Earlier next month, the Cambridge- based orchestra begins its Beethoven 250th anniversary celebrations with his complete incidental music for Goethe’s play Egmont, alongside the modern premiere of the Mass by Dussek at The Barbican, in London, on the 2nd.
Violinist Viktoria Mullova joins forces with AAM’s director and harpsichord virtuoso Richard Egarr for works by Haydn, JS and CPE Bach at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds on 18 November.
