Need saving from your local supermarket? Cambridge’s bakeries are coming to the rescue.
Grain Culture
Grain Culture is going the extra mile to ensure that you can still get your hands on their bread. Their web shop offers both collection and delivery options, so that those who are self-isolating can stay safe and still have some delicious bread to enjoy. If you’ve never tried their bread before, why not show your support and buy a loaf now? Besides saving you a trip to the supermarket, their sourdough might just change your life. Delivery is available from Tuesdays to Fridays via the Grain Culture website, and they’ll also be delivering bread to Shelford Deli as normal.
Fitzbillies
Despite their physical stores being closed, Cambridge favourite Fitzbillies is still managing to feed the city. The bakery operates an online shop, so you can still get your Fitzbillies fix by ordering for collection or delivery to your door. There’s a whole host of sweet treats available online, including their irresistibly indulgent Chelsea buns. But if it’s bread you’re after, fear not; Fitzbillies will also continue to bake bread for all of their retail partners, many of whom can also provide delivery services. You can see the full list of participating shops over on Fitzbillies’ Instagram page.
Stir Bakery
You’ll be pleased to hear that Stir Bakery is still open for deliveries, as well as collections for bread and essential supplies (using strict social distancing outside their shop). In the coming days, their wide selection of fresh breads and sweet and savoury treats will all be available for delivery via their online shop, and you will also be able to order flour and retail coffee. Stir Bakery will additionally be offering pizza delivery to CB4 postcodes from 5pm until 7pm in the evenings (order by 6pm if you’d like vegan cheese!), so they’ve even got your dinner covered, too.
Maison Clement
Maison Clement recently announced that they will be offering a bicycle delivery service, so you can get their gorgeous baked goods delivered to your door. The French bakery and cafe offers a selection of freshly baked loaves, including ryes and sourdoughs, along with some exquisite pastries and confections, so you can be sure that your local supermarket can’t compete. Maison Clement is also accepting pre-orders for collection at one of their two locations in the city, ensuring that service is streamlined for social distancing. Email them at [email protected] or call 01223324983 to organise your order.
