Provenance Kitchen and Cambridge Tent Company team up to provide the area’s largest alfresco dining experience
Recently recommended in The Times as one of the 40 best alfresco dining spots in the whole of the UK, the stunning new outside dining space at Provenance Kitchen’s Brix and Mortar has shot to the top of our must-
try list. Situated in a grassy meadow to the right of this Whittlesford restaurant’s main entrance, the focal point is a large stretch tent from Cambridge Tent Company, with the eatery’s vintage Airstream van sitting alongside and serving drinks from the hatch.

The tent seats about 100 people (with space for 40 more covers in the main garden and an additional 30 in the courtyard at the rear of the restaurant), making it probably the largest capacity of any outdoor dining spot in the county. As for the food, expect a wood-fired feast in Provenance’s signature style (think chargrilled lamb with hasselback potatoes, or aged Hereford beef sirloin with fries and green sauce), plenty of delicious fish dishes and some truly exquisite desserts. Over the next few months, there’s music in the meadow, plus some exciting collaborations – be sure to keep a close eye on Provenance’s social media pages @provenancekitchen for updates. provenancekitchen.com
