Greek Gods
Fans of Greek food will be delighted to learn that The Athenian has officially launched in Cambridge, and is now available via Deliveroo. From humble beginnings as a London street food stall in 2014, this plucky brand has grown into one of the nation’s top takeaway firms, winning the coveted Deliveroo Restaurant of the Year award in 2020, and expanding across the country. Menu specialities include gyros (made the Athenian way) stuffed with chicken, pork or seitan, loaded with Greek herbs and served in a fluffy homemade pitta – while the courgette fritters, halloumi fries and tomato croquettes are unmissable sides.
Mamma Mia!
Home of Italian food in the heart of Cambridge, De Luca has been a fixture of the restaurant scene for 16 years. In that time, the venue has reached new heights – from the addition of a top-floor piano bar, to the refurbishment of its function room. Now, owner Paul De Luca has revealed his artisanal pizza offering. Lockdown provided the perfect opportunity to instal a pizza oven and, using only the finest Italian flour, dough is now fermented for up to 72 hours before being hand-stretched. Choose from puttanesca, calzone or prosciutto and burrata – with a San Marzano tomato sauce that will have you smacking your lips!
