Found just a short trot over the gallops from Newmarket in the charming village of Moulton, The Packhorse Inn has proudly shown off a fresh new look following an extensive two-month renovation and expansion effort.
Undertaken by hospitality group Chestnut, this dramatic reinvention celebrates a decade of success for the beloved village pub and culinary hotspot.
A new chapter
Highlights of the refurbishment include a notable expansion of the kitchen; the addition of a charming flint and timber barn extension, offering picturesque views of the village green; and the restoration of the original entrance into a dedicated bar area.
The newly constructed barn boasts expansive windows along its length, flooding the space with natural light and enhancing the pub’s ambience.
Meanwhile, the kitchen has undergone a stunning transformation, featuring a significantly larger workspace and generous garden-facing windows, creating an inviting and spacious atmosphere.
For added flair, a window has been installed between the kitchen and the private dining and event area, promising both excitement for guests and a touch of nerves for the chefs!
Visitors can also now indulge in a delectable bar snack menu available all day, every day.
Be our guest
In the coming summer months, an additional eight-bedroom barn located behind the pub will be opened, increasing the total number of available bedrooms to 16.
While existing rooms are currently open for booking, reservations for the new bedrooms are being accepted for stays starting in September.
True to its welcoming ethos, The Packhorse Inn extends its hospitality to furry friends, with the entire establishment being dog-friendly, including the bedrooms.
Canine companions are treated to a special dog menu, while overnight guests will be provided with a comfortable bed, water bowl and towel for their stay.
“Our three priorities were to put the pub back into the pub, create a better working space for our chefs and make the most of the views across the village green,” says CEO and founder of Chestnut, Philip Turner. “The Packhorse is where the Chestnut journey began; we have not lost sight of that and are privileged to be able to take the pub to its next stage.”
