Cambridge BID celebrated their 8th Sparkle and Shine Ball last night in style, raising £4000 for East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The ball, which included a three course meal and live music, took place at Cambridge City Hotel and was attended by 138 representatives from city centre businesses. Cambridge Business Improvement District (BID), responsible for organising the event, comprises more than 1,000 businesses working together to improve and promote the city centre.
The organisation’s chosen charity for 2015-16 is EACH, a charity which helps support families and care for children and young people with life threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Karen Newton, EACH Cambridgeshire Fundraising Manager, said: “We are thrilled that Cambridge BID has chosen to support us through their annual charity ball. The amount raised on the evening is fantastic and will go towards funding EACH’s work caring for children and young people with life-threatening conditions and supporting their families.”
Cambridge BID chairman Ian Sandison said it was proud to have chosen EACH as its charity for the coming year. He was keen to emphasise that this was only the beginning, highlighting the fact that BID’s sponsorship of the North Pole Ice Rink on Parker’s Piece will result in a percentage of ticket sales from the launch event being donated to EACH.
Cambridge BID launched on 1st April 2013 following a majority vote by businesses and organisations within the BID Area in October 2012.
