Classic films outdoors with Enchanted Cinema

Fancy an evening at a hidden secret garden, or maybe overlooking Grantchester Meadows, while hearing local musicians play, seeing emerging moviemakers’ short films before a familiar silver-screen classic?

The team at Enchanted Cinema aim to provide a unique experience for your eyes and ears over the summer months, with a series of films screened outdoors at two venues, the Red Lion in Grantchester, and the Gonville Hotel, in Cambridge.

Curtains go back at 7.30pm and there’s no allocated seating. The screenings start at sunset, and Enchanted Cinema have a fantastic lineup, with the 70s homage to the 50s, The Blues Brothers, first up on 29 May. Among the rest of the programme are The Grand Budapest Hotel, Pulp Fiction and Dirty Dancing.

Cambridge Cinema Shorts brings moviegoers the best in emerging film talent with a short feature, and as well as the live music, there will be a magical light installation too.

Though outdoors, Enchanted Cinema has all the familiar comforts. The cinema’s bar and popcorn kiosk will provide everything for you to sit back in your deckchair and soak up a movie classic in a swell summer way.
