Pop-up Norfolk campsite promises the ultimate East Anglian staycation this summer
With a question mark looming over international breaks, 2021 is the year of the staycation – but with UK tourism hotspots booking up fast, you might be wondering if you’ll be able to get away at all this summer. Camp Elwood, a gloriously vintage-style pop-up campsite on the North Norfolk coast, might be just the ticket. Promising a ‘slice of retro Americana’, its location on the Holkham estate couldn’t be more gorgeous – or convenient for Cambridge dwellers – and in addition to a picturesque setting, there’ll be workshops, activities and all sorts of tasty food and drink to enjoy.
If you’re feeling active, you can dive into outdoor pursuits like kayaking and paddle boarding, or for something more relaxing, try your hand at macrame, chainstitch and more. There will be excursions including a cycle to a local brewery, plus mixology and cooking sessions too, not to mention evening entertainment in the camp’s old-school Dining Hall.
Food will be available all day long, from Texan breakfasts to suppers offering a taste of home-cooked America, or if you prefer to DIY, check out the BBQ kits, which come complete with locally sourced produce and Elwood brand meat rubs.
When it comes to resting your head for the night, you can pitch up your own tent, bring a camper van or choose between a range of glamping options including the deluxe bell tent, which comes with bedding, throws, scatter cushions, table and chairs and even electricity!
Camp Elwood is open from 26 July to 9 August, and booking is available from the website.
