The tweet, posted at 10.27am this morning, read: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child”.
The Queen and members of both families are said to be ‘delighted’ with the news.
The child will be fourth in line to the throne, and a brother or sister for Prince George, who was born on 22 July 2013.
