The author of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is a distinguished Oxford academic bachelor. Life is certain and comfortable, but then the unexpected happens and he falls in love after a formal meeting with American poet Joy Davidman.
Each provides the other with new ways of viewing the world but their relationship is tested when they receive heartbreaking news.

Shadowlands is at Cambridge Arts Theatre 23 to 28 May at 7.45pm, with additional 2.30pm matinees on the Tuesday and Saturday.
