Theatre adaptation of Academy award winning film comes to Cambridge

The winner of seven Oscars, 1998’s Shakespeare in Love has been adapted for the stage, and comes to the Arts Theatre from 5 to 10 November. What’s a young Will Shakespeare to do when he’s got writer’s block? The deadline for his new play, Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate’s Daughter, is fast approaching, but he’s in need of inspiration. Then he meets Viola, who’s desperate to fulfil her dream of performing on the London stage, even if it means risking the disapproval of Queen Elizabeth I. Adapted by Lee Hall, it’s an epic Elizabethan extravaganza that’s full of wit, fun and is an homage to love and theatre.

Tickets from £25 for 7.45pm performances
Matinee options on the Thursday and Saturday.
