Coming our way before it hits the West End, don’t miss The Father at the Arts Theatre 15-26 September.
A sharp and surprising play, it centres on former tap dancer Andre, now 80-years old, and starting to lose control. He lives with his daughter Anne and her husband Antoine. Or is it her new lover Pierre?
Hailed as one of the best new plays of the decade, it was described as ‘devastating and disorientating’ by The Independent and has earned five stars across the board. The Father is by Florian Zeller – fast becoming one of France’s most well-respected playwrights. This new translation by Christopher Hampton is directed by James Macdonald, starring Kenneth Cranham (Tony Award-nominated for An Inspector Calls) and Claire Skinner (Silk, Outnumbered).
The Father, Cambridge Arts Theatre, 15-26 September, 7.45pm (2.30pm Thur & Sat matinees). Tickets £15-£35.
