TALK: 1 November – Folklore, Female Aging & The Hag, Cambridge Junction J2
Drawing on folk tales, film and contemporary media, this talk by author and researcher Dr Tracy Fahey will explore the hag’s complex nature and how she has become deeply tied to questions of ageing, femininity, nature and power.

FILM: 1 November – Harsh Land, Distant Sky, Arts Picturehouse
Showing as part of the Cambridge Film Festival is this Kurdish feature film directed by Hawraz Mohammed. It follows Harun, a Kurdish freedom fighter haunted by trauma. In search of relief, he is drawn first towards sacred Yarsan music, then towards Maryam, a traditional Kurdish tattooist living in a remote village in the Triangle of Borders region, where Iraq, Iran and Turkey meet.
