Showcasing over 60 local musicians, the Green Shoots Festival is still going ahead this July
As we all know, the last year has not been kind to the local music and entertainment industry, with many venues closed and events cancelled. Live music in particular has suffered, often with only a handful of pub gardens being able to be used to put on any kind of meaningful show. The Flying Pig in Cambridge comes to mind, but another such pub is The Plough in Shepreth, which has strived to keep local music alive as far as has been possible with Covid regulations.
Ideally set up with an outside stage under cover in the patio, and open sided marquees in the garden, The Plough has been entertaining diners with a consistently high quality offering of local bands and performers. This July, The Plough, will be presenting GREEN SHOOTS in association with Cambridge 105 Radio. The mini-festival will celebrate the best in local music, featuring over 60 local musicians across 6 musically-themed days. Parts of the festival will also be recorded, with selections broadcast on Cambridge 105 Radio.

Tuesday 6 July is Folk Night, presented by Les Ray, and will feature the likes of Red Velvet, Kelly & Woolley and Naomi Randall, followed by Blues Roots and Rock on Wednesday 7 July, with Tom Colborn, The Light Waves and The Wednesdays. Thursday sees Lexie Green, Tennessee Twin and Swamptruck take to the stage for Country and Roots Music night, followed by Dan Bond, Leon O’Leary and Radegans for a Fresh Local Talent night on the Friday. Then the weekend kicks off with an R&B, Soul and Reggae night on Saturday, featuring the Soul Stretch Gang and The SGs, as well as a special guest (TBA), and rounds off with some Sunday Vibes, courtesy of Josh Robins, Schrodinger’s Strings, The Antidote, and many more.
Current Covid restrictions will apply, face masks will be required when not seated at a table, and those attending will be required to register on arrival. Tickets are £5 per day, or £25 for the whole week, and are available from https://www.wegottickets.com/ThePloughShepreth.
