If you’ve ever thought you might enter your home-grown fruit and veg in a show but not been quite sure, now’s the time to take the plunge, with Great British Bake Off finalist Ian Cummings set to judge the baking entries at the Cambridge Food, Garden & Produce Festival on 17 and 18 September.

The produce tent will be filled with fruit, veg, cakes and other baked delights, and children can have a go too, with different age categories.

Among Edition‘s favourite tasty things to have a go at are Tallest Cress Hair in a Decorated Egg, Animal Made from Vegetables or Fruits, and Jam Tarts (‘suitably displayed on a plate’). There are also categories for cut flowers, vegetables and fruits.

Ian, from Cambridgeshire, will be among those at the event on Parker’s Piece displaying his skills in a series of cookery demos, which will also feature Nigel Brown, the Rocking Raw Chef – aka Barbara Fernandez – and Masterchef contestant Ondine Hartgroves.

So get down to Parker’s Piece, 10am-5pm both days. Admission is free.
