Chocolate lovers beware; an irresistible temptation is opening its doors on Green Street

Luxury drinking-chocolate company Knoops is launching a store in Cambridge on 25 November, introducing the city to an infinite source of liquid delight.
“I’ve always been addicted to chocolate; I eat it every day!” confesses founder Jens Knoops. “When I was a child, my grandmother used to give it to me for being good, so I’ve always considered it a treat.”
Disappointed by the dearth of decent hot chocolate outlets in the UK, Jens decided to take matters into his own hands in 2013 by opening the first Knoops store in the historic town of Rye. Since then, he has shared his passion for chocolate in London, Oxford and Brighton, with Cambridge marking his eighth stamp on the map.
Each Knoops store offers endless possibilities for concocting heavenly creations. There are over 22 hot chocolate varieties, showcasing cocoa from all corners of the world, as well as milkshakes, iced chocolates and plant-based options.
“When you first come in, you might feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of choice – but that’s why we have highly trained staff to guide you through it,” explains Jens. “On top of the hot chocolates we offer, there’s a list of about 20 ingredients you can add to your drink: a range of peppers, sea salt, orange zest, chilli, fresh mint, rosemary… expect a wealth of choices, so we can create the perfect chocolate drink for you.”
Knoops also makes its own marshmallows, with seasonal flavours like toffee apple (made with fresh apple juice and caramel) and spiced clementine (infused with home-cooked clementine jam and warming spices) providing the perfect accompaniment to a warming cup of cocoa.
