In the wonderful little river port town of St Ives, nestled just off the corner of the picturesque bridge, is the Taproom. For nearly 20 years it has charmed St Ives and its custodians as its relaxed vibes entice you to sit back, relax and indulge in a morning tea or coffee with the paper, chew the fat over lunch, or step it up a gear as the day draws to a close.
Over the past 18 months, the Taproom has seen some wholesale changes to reflect its café and wine bar reputation with a new art deco bar, cosy seating to relax in, a new façade and an upgrade to its alfresco garden.
The Taproom has become many things to many people, opening at 9am every morning serving an extensive breakfast (try the pink hollandaise!) and free refills of tea and coffee between 9am-10am, Mon-Fri. It plays a large part in bringing together local residents from St Ives, Hemingford and surrounding areas.
As the menu changes from breakfast to lunch/evening, you’ll be pleased to know it packs a punch! From its infamous nachos to new favourites such as the duck bao and flat breads – not to mention the charcoal chicken burger. The Taproom caters for everyone offering its separate vegan and gluten free menus.
As the day heads towards 5 o’clock, the bar comes alive as the best Happy Hour in town kicks into gear: half price on all drinks, nachos, and burgers! Then, when the week begins to draw to a close, the Taproom becomes a hive of activity – every Thursday is Cocktail Club with all cocktails available 3 for the price of 2, all day!
Friday sees the weekend menu supplemented with a range of exciting fusion-led food specials, and its now famous Bottomless Brunch is often accompanied by DJs setting the mood. Live music plays every week ranging from local cover artists to BBC introducing bands on a Thursday and Friday, to up and coming and Ibiza royalty DJs on Saturdays.
