Head chef at The Black Bull in Balsham, Rob Burling, has just landed two AA Rosettes for the third year in a row!

Having previously spent 11 years at Trinity College, before spreading his wings with three years each at the renowned Restaurant 36 near Portsmouth and The Cotton House hotel on the celeb-magnet Caribbean island of Mustique, Rob’s dream was to build his own following back in rural Cambridgeshire – and that is exactly what he is now doing at The Black Bull.

“Rob takes as much pride in his classics (I defy you to find a better pie) as he does in his ever-changing seasonal a la carte dishes,” says the team. “The thought that goes into each new dish is extraordinary. Like an author’s characters, Rob’s dishes are dreamt up from 25 years of cheffing experience and experimenting with ingredients, cooking techniques, flavours and textures. He then takes the same time again designing how he wants his dish to look on the plate. The results have the wow factor, time and time again. Lucky Black Bull, lucky Balsham, lucky Cambridge.”

You can experience Rob’s magic any day Tuesday to Sunday, but once every few months he treats guests to a Five Moments Light Tasting menu, available over three days so that guests can choose which day and whether lunch or dinner, to fit in with their lives.

His Spring Five Moments Light Tasting Menu is coming up this month on Thursday 16, Friday 17 and Saturday 18 April – why not treat yourself and book in for a bit of indulgence?
