One of the most respected songwriters in the biz, Ely-based Boo Hewerdine has written hits for everyone from Natalie Imbruglia to kd lang. His most long-standing and fruitful partnership, though, has been his ongoing collaboration with Scottish singer Eddi Reader, for whom he penned the Ivor Novello-nominated Patience of Angels.

He’s also got a clutch of solo albums under his belt, the latest of which, Swimming in Mercury, was released in April this year, with The Guardian praising its “simple, poetic reflections on life and love”. This month, you can catch him perform with Manchester rising stars We Were Strangers in the beautiful setting of Waterbeach Baptist Chapel on 14 October, tickets are £12.94.
