One of the oldest music festivals in the country returns with a broad, eclectic mix of folk and many other styles
Presenting a raft of top artists in the picturesque setting of Cherry Hinton Hall each summer since 1965, Cambridge Folk Festival returns at the start of August to delight music lovers young and old.
Renowned for its eclectic line-ups and convivial atmosphere, the event is one of the longest running and best-loved folk festivals in the world, offering a chance to enjoy the sounds of both traditional folk artists and contemporary acts, big names and up-and-coming stars of the scene.
This year’s festival, which runs 2 to 5 August, will feature appearances by acclaimed indie-folk sisters First Aid Kit, punk icon Patti Smith, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter John Prine and the high-voltage Alabama outfit St. Paul and the Broken Bones. As ever, there’ll also be the chance to discover the next big thing in The Den, hear intimate sets in the Club Tent, join in crafting, t’ai chi and music workshops, and enjoy tasty food and drinks.
