McDonalds in Cambridge have introduced a new policy which could affect the tradition of the 3am post-boozing burger. Customers to the Rose Crescent branch may be breathalysed and those over twice the drink-driving limit turned away, by staff who have been issued with testing kits. It is said to be a measure to prevent violence against staff and prevent alcohol-fuelled crime in the city.
A similar scheme has also been rolled out in Birmingham and Norwich, and other venues in the city are in talks about implementing the scheme.
What do you think? Have you been breathalysed in a burger bar? Do you think the scheme will reduce crime and aggression – and was Cambridge an appropriate choice of trail town? Join the discussion @cambsedition
