National treasure and ‘The Voice’ himself Sir Tom Jones will be returning to Newmarket Nights in 2015, following a sell-out performance last year.
His career, spanning over half a century, has brought him accolades including a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement. A global star, who received his knighthood from The Queen in 2006, has amassed – along with legions of fans – 36 top 40 UK hits including Kiss, Delilah, She’s A Lady and It’s Not Unusual.
Says Sir Tom: “I’m really looking forward to appearing at ‘An Evening At The Races’ this summer. I always have a fantastic time performing to the audiences at the Racecourses so it’s my pleasure to be asked to return for another year.”
He will perform on 7 August, tickets £28 (£13 under 18s).
Joining Sir Tom on the Newmarket line-up are 80s icons Spandau Ballet, who will take to the stage on 14 August. Celebrating their 35th anniversary in 2015, Spandau Ballet gave us such classics as Gold and True and reunited in 2009 to great success. The special guest for this show is Starsailor’s James Walsh.
An Evening At The Races kicks off with six exciting races before the stars of the track make way for an evening performance by some of the world’s biggest names in music.
Amy Starkey of Jockey Club Racecourses said: “It’s wonderful news that Sir Tom Jones, a Newmarket Nights regular with three appearances on The July Course since 2011, is returning to Newmarket Racecourses. He is the complete performer and, not surprisingly, they have all been sell-out evenings. Tom loves horseracing and music coming together… as he says, ‘win or lose you still have a great time’.”
