Grab your best mate, your mum and your sexiest flesh-coloured pants – it’s time to go shopping! Here are a few of our favourites from Cambridge’s local boutiques
Boho Bride
Gown by Ellis (above), available at Mia Sposa, Homerton Street, Cambridge
This dreamy gown, with its flowing fabric and bead detailing, takes inspiration from the glamorous 1920s and would be perfect for a relaxed spring wedding. Picture yourself floating through rose-strewn gardens, nature-goddess stylee.
Lovely in lace
By Alexia, available at Honey’s Bridal & Events, Oakington
Get the romantic look in this oh-so-feminine, full-skirted number with beautiful sweetheart neckline and lashings of lace.
Snow queen
‘Blake’ by Sophia Tolli, available at Fleur de Lys, Saffron Walden
Show off your shape with this gorgeous figure-hugging gown with plenty of sparkle. The warm, Champagne colour is a classy alternative to white, too.
Effortless elegance
By Maggie Sottero, available at Burr Bridal, King Street, Cambridge
We love the drama of this sophisticated bridal look. The lace sleeves are ideal if you’d rather not show off your arms, or need a little more coverage for a winter wedding.
Underwear secrets
The foundation for any outfit, good underwear is essential for creating a smooth silhouette and keeping everything where it should be. Peter’s Bridal Warehouse, in Soham, share their top tips:
1. Get measured. Sizing can vary, so get professional advice.
2. Invest in the best you can afford, so you’ll be comfortable and confident on the day.
3. Try on your underwear with your gown beforehand to make sure it’s invisible. Consider seamless, flesh-coloured underwear.
4. Strapless or backless dress? Try a basque, strapless bra or adhesive bra. Low-back bra converter straps can work wonders too.
For more advice, talk to your wedding dress shop. Peter’s Bridal Warehouse stock a range of gowns from £299-£899.
