De Luca Cucina and Bar on Regent Street – already a go-to spot for authentic Italian dishes, served in a stylish, relaxed environment – will soon become known as the place to go for a sophisticated evening of music as it brings a piano bar feel to its cocktail lounge.
The baby grand piano is being supplied by established Cambridge retailers Miller’s Music, and music will be performed each Friday from 8pm. Guests will be able to sit around the piano and request songs (you might even find yourselves in the midst of a classic-style sing-along), and soak up the atmosphere while sipping De Luca’s signature cocktails.
Piano Bars originated in the USA and are popular in London and across Europe. The format sees a singer and pianist take to the keys and perform a repertoire of pop music from the 1950s to the latest chart toppers. Along with American performers, British piano entertainers are considered some of the best in the world and are often flown to mainland Europe to perform. Cambridge-based Robin P-iano has a repertoire of well over 1,000 songs and has performed in venues such as The Savoy’s famous American Bar.
De Luca is also introducing jazz duo performances to its Skylight Restaurant as part of the new music programme from 19th October. Live jazz performances will take place each Sunday from 6 to 9pm and feature either piano or guitar with upright bass, creating a relaxing atmosphere to compliment the restaurant’s extensive modern Italian menu.
