Your essential guide to the late August bank holiday weekend in Cambridge!
1. foodPark
Feast your way around the foodPark Night Market at Gravel Hill Farm on Saturday 27 August. Edibles on offer include chicken wings from Buffalo Joe’s, artisan pizza for Fired Up, vibrant veggie cuisine from The Wandering Yak and South East Asian fare from Jalan Jalan. Smokeworks, Holy Schnitzels and Kura Kura will also be serving up their wares, whilst you can pick up delectable sweet treats from Choux Stopper. When it comes to whetting your whistle, Cambrdige Wine Merchants and Jolly Good Beer will be on hand, or you can pick up cocktails from the Spirited Mare horse box. 2. Movies on the Meadows
All signs are pointing to us having a belter of a bank holiday weekend weather-wise, so what could be better than a jaunt to glorious Grantchester for a spot of open air cinema? From 26 to 28 August, Movies on the Meadows will serve up 12 films for audiences on the banks of the River Cam, with street food and drinks on offer to enjoy while you relax. 3. Cambridge Cocktail Weekend
There’s no better excuse for a tipple than the Cambridge Cocktail Festival, taking place 26–28 August and promising a three-day extravaganza of music, food and a whole lot of booze. Sip your way around a variety of pop-up bars, enjoy demos, tasters, music and more. Click here for the full story.
4. Cambridge Shakespeare Festival
Time is running out to enjoy the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival, which hosts dazzling productions of the Bard’s best loved works in some of Cambridge’s most beautiful gardens throughout July and August. Pack a picnic and a bottle of wine and catch As You Like It in the idyllic setting of King’s College’s gardens, or enjoy The Winter’s Tale at Robinson College, both running until 27 August. 5. Gogs Sundowner
This weekend signals the final Gog Sundowner (sob!), meaning you’ve got one last opportunity to head to The Gog for a post-work prosecco or beer, and enjoy some great food. Catering are Provenance Kitchen: purveyors of quality, seasonal delights, but the real showstopper, of course, is the gorgeous sunset, framed by the undulating Gog Magog Hills.
