Catch a dose of Christmas cinema in a fabulous setting
The delightful Star & Mouse Picture Show return with a super-sized, glittery box of tricks as they present a socking-load of Christmas movies.
For the first two movies, the team at Star & Mouse are taking over the top floor at Madingley Hall on 7 and 9 December, with action hit Die Hard on the 7th, followed by all-time classic It’s a Wonderful Life on the 9th (both 6pm for 7.45pm screenings).
There will be live jazz in the gallery lounge before the films, which you’ll then watch from cosy armchairs.
For the next three films, expect to wind your way through Star & Mouse’s magical forest, with more fairy lights and pine trees to get to your screening than last year at The Great Barn, Manor Farm, Bourn. If you arrive early (around 6pm) expect to soak up a stocking-filler Christmas market, live music, brass band, toasted marshmallows, hot food, mulled wine and cider, carol singing and the big man himself, Father Christmas.
The Manor Farm lineup starts with The Holiday, starring Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Cameron Diaz and Jack Black, on 14 December, followed by Home Alone on the 15th. Then there’s a double helping of Mary Poppins, at 3.15 and 7.45pm on 16 December. If you go to the matinee, all the magical extras will occur after your film.
The final weekend of fab films switches to All Saints Church, Cambridge, with carol singing, mince pies, mulled wine and a few craft stalls too for those who arrive early. First up on 21 December is hit British romcom Love Actually, featuring Hugh Grant (above) and an all-star cast, while The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (aka Narnia) is on the 22nd.
