Museum and gallery shops get their own special day

Many of us love shops at museums, galleries and grand homes from a bygone age where unique gifts can be found.

Museum Shop Sunday, taking place for a second year on 25 November, aims to celebrate these shops.

From books to jewellery to toys to home accessories, gourmet food and more, it’ll likely be a relaxing shopping experience after Black Friday. More than 700 museum shops will be taking part across ten countries.

The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in Cambridge will run a Pacific paper-weaving craft session for children three and up, while Cambridge Wine Merchants will be selling mulled wine from a pop-up stall in front of the museum.

The Imperial War Museums shops, including the one at Duxford is offering a chance to win two special prizes worth £1,000. All you have to do is like and share one of their shop posts or spend more than £50 shopping online at www.iwmshop.org.uk to be in with a chance.

First prize is a flight for two in a Dragon Rapide aircraft, plus entry to IWM Duxford for the day.
