After an extended closure, The Fitzwilliam Museum reopened its doors in August, having implemented various new measures to keep visitors safe. Floor markings have been introduced, face coverings must now be worn inside and while entry will still be free, tickets must now be booked in advance via the museum’s website. Even though things might be a little different, the team are delighted to be back in action, as director Luke Syson explains: “I’ve been enormously grateful for all the support we’ve received at the Fitz during lockdown. We’ve been able to improve what we do online and there’s more to come. But without doubt – we’re excited to get back in the building and to be welcoming visitors again. Looking at art isn’t a luxury, it’s an essential. Art doesn’t really come alive unless we’re there to see it.”
