July culinary updates to whet your appetite
Review: wine tasting at Broadway Cellar by Jane Fisher
Our wine tasting evening at Broadway Cellars in St Ives was hosted by Mark Weaver of Quinta de La Rosa, a family-run vineyard on the River Douro in Portugal that dates back to 1815.
Sharing the history of the vineyard and some childhood anecdotes, he answered his audience’s questions with the confidence of someone who knows the business and industry inside out.

The wines and ports we were sampling were accompanied by cheese and charcuterie – a perfect combination. Of the eight wines sampled, I marked seven with a big smiley face – my favourite was the 2021 Val do Inferno, a vibrant red. The best port had to be the ten-year-old tawny. For someone who doesn’t usually drink port, I am converted!

Parker’s Tavern launches delectable Dinky Doors collaboration
This summer, University Arms Cambridge is inviting guests to step into a world of miniature magic with the launch of an exclusive Dinky Doors Afternoon Tea at Parker’s Tavern.
Translating the city’s tiniest and most whimsical landmarks into an imaginative culinary experience, the afternoon tea is designed to capture the essence of the much-loved Dinky Doors public art trail – miniature, hand-crafted doors hidden in unexpected corners across Cambridge.
The collection of cakes and sweet treats created by Parker’s Tavern’s pastry team, led by head pastry chef Murat Ugur, includes the Ride and Park, a strawberry and lime tart finished with roasted kataif for a delicate crunch, and the Emailerator, a mango and passion fruit chocolate délice encased in dark chocolate.

Families and groups are encouraged to continue the adventure through playful elements such as colouring maps for kids, which will turn your afternoon tea into a whole day of exploration.
The Dinky Doors Parker’s Tavern Afternoon Tea runs until 4 October. Visit parkerstavern.com to learn more
