Balsham

The Black Bull in Balsham has successfully raised £1,400 for local charity CamSight, by hosting its increasingly popular Dining in the Dark event.

On 23 April, the foodie pub – sister pub to the multi award-winning Red Lion in Hinxton – invited guests to enjoy a delicious meal with a twist. Diners were challenged to polish off their meals blindfolded, in order to help understand what it’s like to do the simplest things, like eating, with limited or no vision.

A competition element was introduced as each table offered up their guesses as to the key ingredients used, relying on just taste, texture and smell.

Says the inn’s owner, Alex Clarke: “We were delighted to be asked by Linda Fairbrother to host this now annual event again for CamSight. It has become a firm favourite amongst CamSight supporters and our staff alike. With the help of our loyal and generous local suppliers the evening raised over £1,400 for CamSight, which made the event all the more rewarding for everyone.”
