Three Cambridge bakers you need on your radar

The Baking Jin

The Baking Jin specialises in chiffon cake – a beautifully light and fluffy, not-too-sweet sponge popular in south-east Asia. The man behind the business, Jin Yee Chung, won the Cambridge Bake Off in 2015 and recently decided to bake full-time. You can choose options like pandan layer or mango mousse cake, or let Jin know your fave  flavours to create something completely bespoke.

Joi Joi Bakehouse

The edible art created by Joi Joi Bakehouse is a delightfully mad hotchpotch of Korean and Victorian design influences. Pastel-hued minimalism meets ornate maximalism on these eye-catching cakes, which include the ‘English Rose’: a triple-layered lemon sponge with matcha and vanilla buttercream, decorated with thyme, dried roses, berries and pomegranate.

One Part Love

Creator of the chicest bakes in Cambridge, One Part Love crafts to-die-for celebration cakes, be it for a wedding, birthday or special event. Owner Jessica and her team specialise in elegant, natural designs adorned with fruit and flowers, but they’re not averse to the odd bit of gold leaf. If you don’t have a party planned, the company also offers postal brownies via its website.
