The Dowsing Sound Collective – Cambridge’s coolest choir – is an immersve, grass-roots musical collective of 120 voices and instrumentalists: a magical fusion of a choir and a band and the brainchild of DJ and choral scholar Andrea Cockerton.
The collective is made up entirely of local people, and in the last year alone has collaborated with Basement Jaxx and legendary songwriter Boo Hewerdine.
Their rousing performances have seen them described as Cambridge’s answer to Pink Martini, and last year’s event saw 1,000 of you all joining in to Fairytale of New York – an impressive spectacle to say the least.
As ever, the set list this year is brilliantly eclectic, leaping joyously from retro winter classics and Christmas favourites to contemporary party hits (think Mumford & Sons mixed with Jamiroquai, and a bit of Dolly Parton thrown in for good measure).
All gig profits will go towards The Dosoco Foundation, a project set up by the Dowsing Collective last year, which has already donated just under £3000 to support music-related projects doing social good in Cambridgeshire. Tickets start at £17.50. VIP tickets, which include great seats, a free cocktail, and entry to the post-show party, are also available at £38.50.
