The Darwin Centre for Young People are holding a summer fete and car boot sale on 13 August to raise essential funds for their summer holiday activity programme.
The facility is an inpatient unit that cares for young people who are struggling with serious mental health problems. The young people are aiming to raise £1,000 for summer holiday activities, which are crucial to help them grow in confidence, gain new skills and try new experiences. The activities brighten up the week and provide the young people (who may be feeling low and vulnerable) with something to look forward to.
The Darwin Centre will also be joined by other local mental health services, who will be fundraising for their own activity programmes.
Delights on offer include a car boot sale, games, raffle, tombola, amazing cakes and crafts. The doctors and consultants at the Darwin Centre have also been secretly signed up for an entertaining round of “Drench the Doctor”, which will go ahead come rain or shine. So get ready to throw a soggy sponge at the doctors!
We all know someone who has been affected by mental health difficulties, such as depression or anxiety, so take this chance to support the young people at the Darwin Centre who are working so hard on their recovery.
The event is 1 to 4pm at the centre, which is on the Ida Darwin Hospital site at Fulbourn. For more details call 01223 885850.
