A new interactive map from train operator LNER has revealed the exact week to visit the East of England for the region’s most stunning autumn colours – and the top places to see them, with two places in Cambridgeshire making the list!

The research analysed historical climate records, local tree species and photo evidence from across the country to estimate when leaves reach their most vibrant shades. Each location was also given an Autumn Beauty score based on the richness and consistency of its reds, oranges and yellows.

Peak week: 9 October – 16 October
Where to go: Ferry Meadows Country Park (Peterborough), The Backs (Cambridge), Sandringham Estate (Norfolk)
